School sucks

Lately, it feels like all I do is homework and work. Well...really, that is all I really do. However, this year I am making an extreme effort to take time for me and the people I love.

Last year I worked two jobs (Monday-Sunday) and was full time at school (15 credit hours each semester. Wtf what I thinking when I signed up for THAT?!). This amounted in me being too tired to do much of anything. I slept. A lot. And I also missed out on a lot of "college experiences" that I regret. Not so this year. I am, again, working two jobs and going to school full time (although this year I'm doing only 12 credits a semester because I feel living to see the age of 30 outside of an insane asylum is important), but this year, it's on my terms. I'm working at the desk 3 afternoons a week and at Texas Roadhouse 3 afternoons a week. However, I usually only serve 2 nights a week and I have weekends off. Why, do you ask? Because I'd like to have a little fun every now and then. And it's been great. I get really stressed out with school during the week (and sunday nights, but whatever) and get to do whatever the hell I want on the weekend nights.

In doing so, I've experienced my first tailgate:

I hate football, but I sure love friends and *ahem* other fun stuff :)

It should be a good year :)

Summertime and the livin's easy...ish.

So sorry blogisphere-I was HORRIBLE at blogging these past few months. But it was summer! And with the sun, shorts, and a tan to work on, can you really blame me?? I didn't think so.
Sadly, and sounding a tad cliche, this summer was a rollercoaster ride, to say the least:
My job at UNL ended with classes in May and so I worked my life away at the Texas Roadhouse. And folks, when I say worked my life away, I mean I worked 6 days a week. That place is like my second home. I should really pay rent there. As bizarre as it is, though, I love it. This probably is because of the people I work with. They've all got that weird sense of humor that I do. For instance, one slowish Saturday morning Trevor came into the back, REALLY excited, and said "If you ate raw salmon would you, or would you not, feel like a grisley bear?!"....ok, maybe you had to be there...but I laughed. Hard. Its the little things like that that have kept me there for over two years. Though the tips don't hurt either, I suppose.
I DID move out of my parents house (see previous blog) and into my lovely duplex *insert cheesy smile here.* I really do like it. Two bath, Four large bedrooms, HUGE closets...should be heaven. Except I had the roomate from HELL. She-who-must-not-be-named (Yea. She's on the same level as Voldemort. BELIEVE IT) NEVER got me her rent or utilities checks on time. NEVER. She did pay them though, so, although MY stress level increased immensley at the end of the month, at least shit got paid and all was right in our four bedroom home, right? WRONG. Bitch was stealing clothes from me and my roomate Morgan AND OUR OTHER ROOMATE WHO WASN'T EVEN LIVING WITH US FOR THE SUMMER. That's right-she had gone into Tessa's boxes that Tessa left over the summer and had stolen clothes, picture frames, etc. Who DOES that?! Morgan and I found out this was going on literally the DAY before I was going on a week-long trip with her and 4 other friends. Hazzah!
So, not wanting to ruin the trip for my other friends, I put my frustrations aside for the week and ending up having a SAH-WEET time. This is probably because, at the beginning of the trip, she-who-must-not-be-named wronged my other friends as well, so we just kind of ignored her the majority of the time :)
The trip was to a country music festival in Wisconsin. Highlights of the trip: Everyone there was rad and totally ready to party. I've never had so much fun with total strangers in my life. Also, there was no shortage of amazing music. I saw Sugarland, Jason Aldene, Billy Currington, Jo Dee Messina, Miranda Lambert, Gloriana, Kenny Chesney-and many more. There were literally like 12 bands a day. Concerts started around 11 am and went until about 11 at night. LOVED it. Low points of the trip: It rained the first two days. A LOT. It was like a monsoon from 12am-10am like every day. What's so wrong with that?, you might ask, you love the rain! I do. But not when it leaks through my tent. I don't know if you've ever tried sleeping while wet and muddy-but it is gross. And highly uncomfortable. I really do NOT reccomend it. I truely had a fantastic time though, other than the whole sleeping part. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Sadly, though, we had to go home to even more drama. Here is the readers digest version of the rest of my summer: I dropped off she-who-must-not-be-named at her Mom's house after Country Thunder. Folks, that is literally the LAST TIME I have seen this girl. That's right. She did not pay rent OR utilities for August. I don't know if any of you remember what it's like to be a college student-BUT I AM NOT RICH. Like, not even close. Then she-who-must-not-be-named wouldn't give us her key OR move any of her shit out. After many angry emails, she-who-must-not-be-named moved everything out except for one dresser, one bookcase, her bed, and a table...and then left her key in our mailbox instead of walking it down to us-coward. However, that did leave us with a certain question on our minds: "What the FUCK are we supposed to do with the rest of this shit?" Our roomate that was replacing she-who-must-not-be-named was due to move in THE NEXT DAY. So I contacted the mother who birthed she-satan and all SHE wanted was the bed and table back. Right. So I gave the other shit away. She-who-must-not-be-named, if you are reading this right now: FUCK. YOU. :)
Kaley has moved in, though, and replaced she-who-must-not-be-named and she seems very nice. It is just so nice to not have to worry about someone stealing anymore. Or paying rent. Although, I am a little worried about ME being able to pay rent...
My job at UNL has started up again (that's actually where I'm at right now-getting paid to blog-hah!). We had to do two weeks of training and such, which is fine, except I had to take off two weeks at Texas Roadhouse for it and I don't get paid for my time at UNL until September 2nd. This also WOULD have been fine except that the money I had saved to get me through august all had to go to the bills/rent that she-who-must-not-be-named did not pay. So. I have, sadly, become the stereotypical college student, down to my last $20 haha...such is life.
On that happy (sarcasm, friends) note, I leave you with some sahWEET pictures that sum up my summer pretty perfectly:

^Shrek ears (and face)...Jealous? ;)

^The three non-crazy girls at country thunder! :D We left she-who-must-not-be-named by herself at our campsite

So sorry, but...

Life has been hectic.
In the past two weeks I have been: working full time, going to school full time, packing up my apartment, moving OUT (YESYESYES) of my apartment, cleaning said apartment, and moving into my parents' house for 5 days (can I just say how much I LOATHE living out of boxes?? So annoying).
This week I will be: working full time, going to school full time, doing all of my finals (except one that will be on the 2nd), move out of my parents' house, move into my new duplex, unpack, decorate, clean, collapse in a heap.
Entirely too exhausting for my taste.
So please forgive my absence until finals are over with and I am happily moved into my new place :)

Forgot how lovable they were until...

Today, my sister informed me that the word "ERINaceous" means "to resemble a hedgehog." Well. I am TOTALLY ok with that. Just look at these cuties:

Stinkin' adorable.

Its the little things in life

Truly. This weekend has been a roller coaster, to say the least. Friday was glorious. I devoted only one hour to wasting away in a classroom (and only because it was required. It was so sunny out I would have probably not gone at all. Ah spring fever...), and then dyed eggs with one of my best friends, Kirsten, for those who were in town for Easter! Here are my favorites: This one is for our friend, Miguel. Not only is he the token Hispanic of el group, but when he gets drunk he often times draws a dirty stach on himself. So you can see why this egg was so appropriate.

Coming in 2nd is the egg for our friend, Andy, who looks a whole hell of a lot like THIS GUY:

Therefore, we made him this egg:

These are simply a few of the MANY masterpieces we created. We're thinking of starting a museum. Clearly, we would make millions.

Anywhoo, Friday night was spent having some fun and passing out Easter eggs. It did, sadly, lead to a late night food run to the place I now call DELEON'S OF DOOM. I have often times gone to Deleon's for my late night cravings because it is 1)the best chicken burrito you will ever eat and 2) it's open 24/7. Now, I generally always get the chicken burrito because, well, how do you mess up a chicken burrito? But silly me on this late (or rather early) 3am night (morning?) decided to be ADVENTUROUS and try something NEW. Idiot. I got the beef enchilada, ate it ravenously, and woke up with food poisoning. I will not give you the gruesome details, but it was not pretty. And did not stop until I had gotten an anti-nautia (Sp?) pill from Urgent Care. Bleh.

Because of DELEON'S OF DOOM I had to call in sick to work which (understandably) pissed off the guy who was on call for that night and (not so understandably because you are supposed to be MATURE ABOUT RUNNING A RESTAURANT) my manager. But that is a post for another day.

Thankfully, the next morning I was feeling well enough to head to my parents' house for Easter with the fam for a bit before work (though I approached any and all food with a cautious eye, and most likely will for a long time).

All and all, overlooking the pain and anger, it was quite the lovely weekend :)

Spring Break

For this year's spring break, I was determined to not stay in Nebraska. I did that last year, thinking, "Oh! I'll work all week and earn a ton of money!" Which rocks, until you get off of work and realise that no one is in town, so there's nothing to do. One can only watch so many movies in a week. So. A couple friends and I road tripped it to Chicago to visit our friend, Nancy! My favorite part of the trip (besides all the new memories, clothes, and friends)? THIS GUY:

I will find a way to have him. I must.

Old Balls

When did I get so old that HIGH SCHOOL kids were offering me weed?

My roommate's little cousins, 17, are in town for the Jason Aldene (sp? Sorry, Jason) concert and are staying with us for the weekend. After work, I walked into an apartment of drunkasses in cowboy hats (something I thought I'd have escaped upon leaving Texas Roadhouse...hm...). My roommate's cousin, whom I've met before, comes up to me and says "Erin! Do you want to smoke??" And naturally, sober as a judge, and with her being SEVENTEEN AND ALL, I thought "cigarettes!" So I replied, "No-I don't smoke, thanks. I think it's gross."

Then, ladies and gentlemen, I was hit with my first "you old people are so lame" look. Let me tell ya, those suckers hurt.

She then proceeded to pull out a pipe, a baggie, and head outside.

ONLY THEN did I realize that I had just been offered weed. And by someone my little brother's age, no less. Thus, further proving the oldness of my balls. :/
